Shape: The Atlantic horse mackerel has an elongated and compact body with a very dark line on its side.
Minimum size: 15 cm
Fat content: 8%-18%
Fishing areas: The Atlantic horse mackerel can be found up to 200m-300m deep in the southern Pacific and the Atlantic, as well as the Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea. They live in the areas away from the coast during the autumn and winter months and when the summer comes they approach the coast to reproduce. The youngest fish weigh less than 50gr.
Color: Its body is blue-green, except for its belly with tones of white and silver. It has a dark spot on the gills.
Length and weight: It can reach 50cm, although the common size is around 20cm and the weight is usually 200gr.
Product availability: Higher availability: May, June, July, August, September, October, and November. Medium availability: January and February. Lower availability: March, April and December.
