HELICOLENUS DACTAYLOPTERUS
Shape: It has a robust spiny body with rough scales orange-red color with off-white areas, the dorsal part is darker with 3 or 4 crosswise bands and dark spots on the part above the gills. The lower jaw is longer than the upper jaw, the inside of the mouth is dark blue, and the part below the head doesn’t have scales.
Minimum size: 35 cm
Fat content: 5%-10%
Fishing areas: Atlantic Ocean, from Iceland and Norway to South Africa including the Mediterranean Sea, and from Canada to Venezuela (Caribbean Sea).
Length and weight: 20cm to 40cm and its average weight is between 500gr and 1kg.
