PAGELLUS BOGARAVEO
Shape: It has the typical aspect of the sparidae family, oval shape with a tall and thin body, short round head, small mouth, and very big eyes. The dorsal area is pale reddish in color, and the sides are silver. All the fins are pinkish-red. It is distinguished from the rest of sparidae family of a black spot located at the beginning of the lateral line that it crosses on the base of the pectoral fins. It also is recognized by the appearance, by the black spots under the fins in the pectoral fins. The younger fish are a lighter color and sometimes lack the black spot.

Fat content: 2%-8%
Fishing areas: Abundant in Cantabrian Sea, Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
